Attorney-at-Law Kathy@goldbergandrosen.com One Biscayne Tower 2 South Biscayne Blvd Suite 3650 Miami, Florida 33131 T: 305-374-4200 F: 305-374-8024 When did you know you wanted to be a lawyer? I always sawmyself helping people who were hurt and could not help themselves, so naturally I wated to be a doctor. In school, I excelled in the STEM fields. I graduated top of my class with a Bachelor’s in Science in Biology from Florida International University in 2009. Medicine seemed like a natural career path that fit all my career goals. I could not wait to put on scrubs and start saving lives. Thankfully, fate had different plans for me. I decided to take a gap year after graduating and before starting medical school. During that time, I spent the next year working as a clerk for Judd Rosen at Goldberg & Rosen, P.A. We took intense medical depositions, met with injured families, and even went to trial and won. I was hooked on the law. I called my parents and told them I was going to law school instead of medical school. When I got my acceptance letter to the University of Miami School of Law it was a no brainer. GO CANES! Since that moment, I have never looked back. I have been a lawyer practicing law in one of the top personal injury law firms alongside the most talented, brightest, and compassionate lawyers in Miami, Florida. What is the most challenging aspect of your role? The most challenging aspect of my role is experiencing the grief, heart break, and loss my client’s go through on a day-to-day basis. If you pick up the phone to call Goldberg & Rosen, it is because someone somehow wronged you or a family member, and you are going through one of the hardest moments of your life. We have all heard the movie cliches of “don’t take work personal” and “it’s just a job.” But what sets me apart is that I do take it personally, and it is never “just a job.” We empathize with our clients while fighting tirelessly to obtain the maximum compensation on their behalf. At times the emotion toll is brutal, but the joy of winning a case for a deserving family is always worth it. ABOUT KATHLEEN M. ORTEGA, ESQ.
