Laura Collada has more than 30 years’ experience in IP and is a managing partner at Dumont, where she has worked since 2000. She has taught Copyright and Industrial Property Law at various universities in Mexico City. She also worked as a director of the sub-office for the Prevention of Unfair Competition at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property. Laura focuses her practice in the areas of fashion, media, and telecommunications. She usually writes for different international renamed publications, and is a member of INTA, Marques, AIPPI and ECTA.

Laura has a bachelor’s degree in Law, granted with honors from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). She is specialized in Law of Intellectual Property, Corporate, Civil, Constitutional and Environmental Law (Mentions of honor) from Universidad Panamericana and has a diploma in Contracts from ITAM.

Ms. Collada broke down barriers by being the first woman to manage an IP firm in Mexico, and a partner at a leading firm. She advocates for women’s equality and, is involved in several associations (AIPLA, UIA), creating awareness by speaking out about “glass-ceiling” issues at different events.

Currently, as one of the few females Managing Partners of an IP firm in Mexico, Ms. Collada acts as an icon to women who wish to advance their careers in this field; this has made Dumont known as a firm in which women are empowered, acknowledged, and groomed as lawyers.

Outstandingly, she works and lectures on D&I topics, and has been three times recipient of the award “The Best IP Lawyer in Latin America” by Women in Business in Law Awards as well as many other accolades for her efforts on D&I, however, her work does not only focus on women but in inclusion in all aspects.

Under Laura’s supervision, Dumont achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification (by TUV Rheinland®) for having a quality management system. Dumont is the first IP firm in Mexico that has been certified in all areas.

She is actively involved in all processes of the office and has developed the depth of certain practice areas, further, to achieve complete client satisfaction and ensure quality takes part in everything done at the firm.
