About Maria
At a young age, Maria Holst Levin has managed to distinguish herself as one of the most talented Danish lawyers of her generation within the energy sector. She is praised by clients for her commercial and solution-oriented approach and for combining a strong work ethic and organized mindset.

Maria specializes in energy law, M&A, and commercial law primarily within the energy sector. She has advised Danish and international clients on some of the most significant transactions within the Danish energy sector in recent years. Noteworthy transactions include for example the sale of Nature Energy, a European leader within biomethane production, to Shell. Her advice is often centered around renewables like biogas, solar and wind projects. Furthermore, Maria has experience within power distribution, district heating and oil & gas.

Aside from being very experienced in leading M&A processes, negotiating contracts and doing legal due diligence. Maria’s expert knowledge within the energy sector and corporate governance is valued when she advises on ESG and how corporates can and should work with ESG from a legal perspective. The sustainability agenda is, overall, something that concerns Maria on a personal level, which is why she was also appointed chairperson of the Danish Law Firm Association’s special committee for Climate covering ESG, energy law and environmental law.

In recent years Maria has received an impressive number of accolades and awards, including winner of Client’s Choice Awards in 2022 and 2023 within Natural Resources and Energy with impressive statements from clients. She is also ranked as a Next Generation Partner by Legal 500 (Energy), recommended as an expert within Energy by Who’s Who Legal and ranked as Up and Coming within Energy by Chambers Europe.
