Marie-Claude Martel began her career in a prominent national firm. However, in 2006, she decided to pursue her career at a litigation boutique in Montreal. In 2022, she became a partner at FORSETI, a distinguished litigation boutique known for favouring ADR modes.
Marie-Claude primarily focuses on complex contractual, construction, co-ownership, and shareholders’ litigation matters. Renowned for her meticulous attention to detail and comprehensive understanding of her cases, she has earned a reputation as a hard worker and a skillful pleader.
Throughout her career, Marie-Claude has honed her expertise in arbitration matters. In 2011, she achieved a master’s degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution, specializing in arbitration. Her involvement in numerous high-profile arbitration cases has been instrumental in setting new precedents in arbitration matters. In addition to her role as a lawyer, Marie-Claude frequently serves as an arbitrator.
Currently, Marie-Claude is a faculty member in the master’s degree program at Sherbrooke University. She is member of the continuous training team in arbitration, which allows arbitrators to be accredited. Furthermore, her contributions to the esteemed blog Arbitration Matters (www.arbitrationmatters.com) provide valuable insights into arbitration cases in Canada. She is also a sought-after speaker at various ADR events.
Marie-Claude is also the President of the Institut de médiation et d’arbitrage du Québec’s (IMAQ) Arbitration Committee. In 2021, she created the Forum des Arbitres de l’IMAQ to respond to arbitrators’ specific needs organizing events such as training courses and networking events. Recently, she founded a mentoring program for arbitrators at IMAQ, offering them invaluable guidance and support from seasoned arbitrators to foster their professional growth.
