Marija Križanac is an Austrian lawyer and data protection expert. She received her law degree at the age of 22 from the University of Vienna, where she was the recipient of a merit-based scholarship. She also completed economics classes at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
At the age of 28, she passed the Austrian bar exam with merits. Marija is the head of the Data Protection practice group and the International Trade / Foreign Trade Law and Sanctions practice group of GRAF ISOLA Rechtsanwälte GmbH, a renowned Austrian law firm. There, she has been advising numerous clients – including large multinational corporations and Austrian public authorities – on all data protection matters for a decade. She holds international certifications in the area of data protection (CIPP/E and CIPM) and is a member of the IAPP. Her Data Protection practice group is regularly recognized in various renowned law firm rankings (e.g., the Legal 500 EMEA), where she is praised by clients for her “sharp mind and a high level of expertise”.
In addition to her work as a lawyer, she is also a writer of legal literature, inter alia in the area of data protection. She is part of the author team of a data protection commentary of a prestigious legal publishing house in Austria, which is considered as standard work on data protection. She also gives lectures, e.g., for the Austrian lawyer academy. Marija serves on the data protection expert board of the biggest customer loyalty program in Austria. Besides her data protection expertise, Marija also specializes in intellectual property / IP & IT, competition and antitrust law, and international trade law. Marija speaks German, English and Croatian. She is the mother of a daughter.
